Israel should treat any ceasefire with Iran like the Hezbollah ceasefire. Any time Israel sees Hezbollah attempting to rearm or rebuild military weaponry that could threaten Israel, Israel shoots them out of the water. Same should hold true for Iran.

I am a supporter of President Trump and Israel. I believe cooperation is desirable but I don’t see why Israel needs Trump’s approval to retaliate when Iran breaks the ceasefire. Which, it will.

It is not about President Trump's approval. It's about working with Israel's best Ally while President Trump is in office. Imagine what would have happened if the Democratic socialists were still in office? We know what would have happened another October. We know what caused it. All the money Joe gave to Iran and they're releasing of the sanctions so they could sell more gas and oil. You must always know your friends and your enemies. Stay well my friend and be careful

Basically because, and I am a supporter too, because he’s a relentless bully if you cross him. He’s the greatest as long as he approves of what you do.

So, you're saying Israel's "strategy" is to align with a "relentless bully"? Hmmm.

Relentless bullying is precisely what is needed against Iran and other Islamic nutjobs. They are orcs who do not listen to reason. Similar to our leftists in the West.

Hope that helps with the confusion.

Alas, the theocratic rationale for the existence of the Iranian mullahs is the ultimate elimination of first the Jews, then the Christians. Until they are eradicated, the goal of these dedicated religious fanatics will not alter. The only real alternative is for the citizens of Iran to overthrow their hated rulers. Unfortunately, I don’t see that happening anytime soon. Or ever.

Well said... Yes, this is not about Iran's nuclear capabilities, but about eliminating its Islamist fascist leadership. So far, attacking Iran has only united the population behind the radical Islamist government just as the 10-7 attacks have strengthened Israel's far-right Judeao fascists.

Two battles are happening at the same time. Israel has a domestic threat and an external enemy. Both require regime change which is difficult in the midst of armed conflict. War is not the answer to the problem.

Israel needs to straight out with Gaza.

The far right, Ben Gvir, Smotrich are leading Israel down a dangerous path, a path where diaspora Jews are starting to view Israel as our own enemy.

You, they are hurting the diaspora Jews, who, after all, are what has kept the Jewish people alive for centuries. Extinct 1000 years without us.

Straighten up, stop groveling to the Haredi!

They are killing your country.

Excellent comments.

Allow me to add a few things.

ISRAEL has many enemies. We also have some friends.

AMERICA has been both over the years depending on who's in charge.

LBJ, BO, JB on one side.

DJT on the other.

We see the difference between Joe & PRESIDENT TRUMP.

We appreciate GOD'S intervention.

Dr.Oren---I hope the last point in your last paragraph rings true: The region can either go back to "stability and serial wars or embark on a new era of peace." I agree also with your asessment that Iran will use the ceasefire to CHEAT---it's in their DNA.

I’m Jewish American and eternal supporter of Israel, but I’m wondering how Ambassador Oren sees the descent of America into fascism as being good for the Jews or for Israel. Seems to me that Israelis are selfishly considering only themselves & not the safety of diaspora Jews. In America, we have masked men in unmarked cars pulling people out of workplaces, schools, hospitals, and the streets and putting them in increasingly ad hoc detention for deportation to wherever.

Michael Oren, I’ve seen you on MSNBC. I believe you understand the significance of what is happening here every day. I believe you see the escalation. I believe you know that Jews in America are not safe -from the far right or left. Yet you say nothing about anything except Israeli Jews.

I speak up for Israel and Israeli Jews all the time. As a Jewish-American liberal, I have many opportunities. When will you speak up for liberal democracy in America? In defense of American immigrants & citizens now being terrorized for no reason?

I was impressed with Ambassador Oren from TV appearances, but I guess I was wrong. Just like you’re wrong to see the current version of America as a reliable ally of Israel.

Ruth---no one has a right to illegally cross our borders and live here in the US. If they commit a felony, they get arrested and deported; pure and simple. It's law and order, which is a cornerstone of a sane society, not 'fascism'. I can see why you believe that, if you watch the oft-discredited MSNBC. Try other news sources.

How many more days of negotiation between the US and Iran must pass before there will be a need to renew the hostilities and finish off the job that Israel began? Are we going to have such a long interval in mere talking that when its is over, we will again have to face the missiles and casualties of both our soldiers and civilians? There are too many questions, and we do not yet have sufficient confidence in the US to be sure that the complete surrender that Trump was originally calling for can ever be seriously approached, let alone met, unless we return again to the bloody fighting and suffering, over which there seems to be no alternative!

Well said and true. Iran must be neutered militarily in absolute terms. Until Islam repudiates the desire to rid the world of us Yahud we must be vigilant and proactive for our defense. The dropping of our guard could easily spell annihilation. I am skeptical even of the Abraham accords because I am suspicious of a major league taqiyah maneuver. The Muslim brotherhood is a crafty and intelligent enemy.
