Columbia University created these monsters deliberately.

They hired, promoted, and starred Edward Said, whose book "Orientalism" was one of the foundational texts of "post-colonial studies", which is the ideology that declares Jews are "settler-colonialists" in the land that God gave them more than 3,000 years ago.

Said died and was replaced by Rashid Khalidi in 2003. Khalidi is also a Palestinian activist. Before Columbia he was at Chicago where he was one of the rogue's gallery of Obama's friends which included Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, and Bill Ayers. There was video of Obama speaking at a 2003 dinner in Khalidi's honor which was found by the LATimes in 2008 and deep-sixed to protect Obama.

It is truly scandalous that we (American Citizens) have allowed the institutions we created to nurture our future leaders to be hijacked by expressly anti-American, anti-Western, and antisemitic ideologues.

What to do about it is difficult. My instinct is to hit them where it really hurts, in their pocket books. Tax the schools. Tax them heavily. Tax their endowments. Tax their contributions. Tax their property. Impose wage and price controls. Tax the faculty on their subsidized apartments.

Yes. Absolutely Tax them. Columbia University is the largest landholder in Manhattan. Can you imagine what that property is worth? Put it back on the tax rolls. Same with NPR. Defund

yes their goal is the destruction of western Judaeo-Christian civilization. soros is an evil man who detests western culture and is dedicated to bring it down. he scored once in a trade everyone knew was going to happen. but has not had any home runs since then. all these dark money pools must be exposed to the light of day. sunshine destroys all sorts of dangerous viruses.

I for one recoil at this unrest fomented by Islamist run NGOs. The Justice Dept, the Treasury who control the tax exempt status of these NGOs, the Dept of Education all should be doing their jobs to investigate.

But, this isn't just a page out of the 60's anti-war protest, this is a page right out of Nazi Germany and before them, earlier Anti-Semitic societal acts. And, Nazi Germany didn't just attack the Jews, they invaded and attempted to control all of Western Europe, North Africa and Russia. This will end badly for America if we don't demand that this current administration act swiftly.

Well said. The silent majority in this country will speak loudly in November when the Biden Jew hating administration is tossed out of office. Add this to the growing pile of atrocities the progressive left in office are inflicting on us.

Quick correction: it wasn’t LBJ who listed to Nixon. He had withdrawn from the race on March 31, 1968. That was before the major campus unrest which, for some odd reason, always seem timed to interfere with finals. Humphrey went on to lose to Nixon. The role the anti-war protests or the backlash to them played can never really be known.

One main difference I think is that, since the students of 1968 had potential skin the game once their student deferments ended, they knew the issues. On today’s campus, the level of ignorance among students is such that these “protests” appear highly performative almost as if they were rent-a-crowds.

Before we had Hanoi Jane, now we have thousands of actors and artists and writers signing anti Israel manifestos. Rudd, Hoffman. et al....I believe we'er all virulently anti Zionist anti Israel as was the SDS. But at the time, Israel wasn't central to the planning of SDS. I don't regret my participation in anti war demonstrations....or any other social activism of the time......I didn't wave a viet cong flag or burn the American. Today as you say is pro War...they are for cease fire to primarily come to the aid of hamas.....so it can repeat Oct. 7th. Their hostages are dying. hamas needs new hostages....they are planning their next hostage take to replenish.....six weeks....they can do a lot.

Israel is starting Rafah....plan on new massive street demonstrations and bridge and tunnel blocking...maybe even a cancer ward. The Jew Hating is only gettting started.

The NY Post did some digging (of course they did) into protest funding sources. Take a look --

I graduated from Columbia University School of Law in 1975, nearly fifty years ago and have resided in Israel since 1983. My years at Columbia were intellectually exhilarating and socially fulfilling. The academic atmosphere championed learning above all else, together with a hefty dose of mission, emphasizing our role as the next generation of advocates and leaders. Those were the days of Vietnam, the Yom Kippur War and Watergate, heady times indeed! There were constant student demonstrations, thousands participated, but never - never - did I witness the kind of venomous, hateful rhetoric that today has hijacked the University and brought it to its knees. I am so saddened , and appalled by the ruin of this esteemed institute of higher learning and its descent into a quagmire of mindless hateful ignorance and the rejection of the values that Columbia once stood for. My father of blessed memory, a holocaust survivor, attended my graduation ceremony on the very same lawn today occupied by the protesters, he was so proud that his son had attended and graduated from such a prestigious University in the country that had granted him a new beginning in an atmosphere free of Jew-hatred and of mutual respect. I can only imagine how he would feel seeing what has become of his beloved home.

I’m questioning whether American Jews, mostly democrats, are smart enough to realize what is at stake and vote Biden and company out of office!! German Jews considered themselves German first until Hitler taught them otherwise! Time for American Jews to wake up, wrinkle their noses and vote Trump in office!!!

That's a dangerous and really stupid attitude. A vote for Trump is a vote for Autocracy and White Christian Nationalism. Neither would be good for Jews or America in general.

What Israel has to fear is the massive, inevitable generational change in American politics coming down the pike, since Israel is now as unpopular with those under fifty as it is popular with the fading Boomers.

Thank goodness Trump got jews added to title VI protections - the federal government has every reason to prosecute and students have every right to form class action lawsuits. The endowments of these universities are staggering and they are bloated with layers of useless self serving administrations that deserve to be defunded.

It’s been reported that Jim Biden “did business with the Qataris. Is anyone surprised. The Obama admin began its appeasement of Iran, embracing of the Muslim Brotherhood and betrayal of Israel and the continuation into his “third term” with “weekend at Biden’s” has done what it had set out to do. America has been sold out in so many ways to the evil trifecta of Iran/China/Russia and “Open Society” Soros funded DAs and Pali orgs by the democrats that if we do not remove them and fight to take back our institutions from the twin evils of Marxism and fundamental Islam, the great American project will be lost. Unlike Europe, we still maintain our 2nd amendment rights and there is a silent majority in this country who will fight back. Hopefully they come to the polls this November in full force.

I am a 1960 graduate of Columbia College, which prepared me well for graduate school while helping me to understand my culture and my country in depth. As a life-long Christian, I learned then to value the excellent Jewish men who taught me: Steve Marcus, Michael Riffaterre and Moses Hadas among them. I never thought that my university would promote antisemitism, along with hatred of the west and the United States. I want my university back. I want my country back. Thanks to Michael Oren.

Good column but the 1968 Dem Convention riot was not all about peace and love. My college roommate went to it. He was a member of SDS who kept a poster sized picture of Trotsky (founder of the USSR's Red Army) taped to the ceiling above his bed looking down on him. He was not all about peace, love, and understanding and neither were many of his comrades.

When the NYPD lowered the Palestinian flag and proudly raised the American flag last night, I thought about the five U.S. Marines who bravely raised the stars and stripes atop a mountain top in Iwo Jima in February 1945. The war was far from over on that island then, and three of those young soldiers would die before they could return home. What would the survivors of World War II think about the tents on the lawn and the takeover of Columbia University, or what is happening on our college campuses today? I'm proud of the Greatest Generation who fought in that war. I wish I could be proud of our once greatest universities too.
