I think that Israel and the US should be trying to persuade the rest of the world that Israel is working to free the people of Gaza from the tyranny and oppression of Hamas which has used the people of Gaza as human shields and has stolen the international aid intended to succor the people for its own nefarious purposes.
Great article, as always. Can you in any way link the inconclusive campaign against Hamas in 2014 to subsequent regional unrest through ISIS or other groups? That seems to be a critical point as the threat to the West if Israel is not victorious is oft repeated.
What is left unclear in this article is why Israel needs "permission" from anyone to properly protect its citizens. Does not international law permit a nation to defend itself against those seeking its destruction? I doubt that if hostile forces were mounting cross-border attacks from Mexico the U.S. would be seeking permission to do what was necessary. Unless I am missing something (and I may be), it seems the Israeli government bears ultimate responsibility for allowing terrorists dedicated to Israel's destruction to pose the kind of peril that exists now. I sincerely hope that its current leaders have learned that lesson.
The world never gives Israel a chance to finish the job. If not for the United States, Hamas would already be the victor in this war just like all the others. And yet even the United States demands things that makes winning the war that much harder.
It's so sad. That the west, that owes Jews so much in so many contexts, would perpetuate this conflict, is painful. It knows better, so, is it cowardice or avarice?
I agree with your premise, but letting U.S.- and Canadian-trained security forces of the PA take over key crossings and border patrols with Egypt aren't the answer. This will only perpetuating the failed Oslo process. Mordechai The first step is to encourage voluntary emigration, then to seek to implement Mordechai Kedar's Emirates Plan which highlights the tribal nature of the Palestinians and suggests dividing Judea and Samaria into eight separate "Emirates" governed by influential Palestinian families already present in those areas. These cities, including Hebron, Ramallah, Jenin, Nablus, Tulkarem, Qalqilya, Jericho, and Bethlehem, would become independent City-States.

You were correct then, and correct now. Sadly, good strategic advice is in short supply in DC.

It's time to take back Gaza, Samaria & Judea!!!
