Yes, a mayor whom I have known since he was a boy, whose father and ideological soul, said on The Ink, in an interview with Anand Giridharadas:

“Yes, the anxiety is real, but the anxiety is not about Zohran; it is about what Zohran symbolizes. The anxiety is about the world out there, which is changing. The anxiety that the war in Gaza has accelerated that change in the world. The anxiety that the world inside the Jewish community in New York is changing, that they are losing control over their young. It is an anxiety I experienced in South Africa.....the Jewish community is suddenly open to multiple futures and I can hope that there will be wiser voices guiding them."

We need to be wiser and hope my own Reform clergy is wiser than they were when they did not stand up to him before his inauguration, and now are dependent on our Jewish Police Commissioner and Speaker.

If we don't make overt anti-Americanism and hateful, eliminationist bigotry TABOO again, ostracizing it and all who espouse and sanitize it out of polite society and our mainstream politics, as we did to marginalize and defeat the KKK, this hate will normalize and tear apart our social fabric. We must make this hate TABOO again!
